Privacy policy
Kindness in Action Charity (KIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Houston, Texas. This policy describes what information this website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what we need to run our programs, we never sell or share personal information, and the pages built for the families we serve carry no tracking at all.
What we collect
Forms. If you ask for help, refer a family, apply to walk with a family, partner your church, request a speaker, or contact us, we receive what you type: your name, how to reach you, and your message. Nothing is collected from a form until you submit it.
Donations. Gifts are processed by Givebutter, our donation platform. Givebutter handles your payment details; we receive your name, contact information, and gift amount so we can send your receipt. We never see your full card number.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we keep your email address for that purpose — one short note a month, unsubscribe in one click.
Analytics. Only with your consent, and never on the Get Help pages. See "Analytics and your consent" below.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to you, run our programs, process donations and send receipts, and send the newsletter you asked for. That is the whole list. We never sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we never share it for marketing.
Requests for help and family referrals
Requests from the families we serve are handled separately from everything else on this site. Submissions from the Get Help pages and the Refer a Family page go to our program staff by email and are kept in a restricted record that only program staff can see. They are never added to marketing lists, fundraising tools, or analytics.
The Get Help pages — in English, Dari, and Pashto — carry no analytics, no consent banner, and no tracking of any kind.
Services we use
Four outside services touch data on this site. No others do.
Processes donations and holds our contact records for donors, volunteers, and newsletter subscribers. Givebutter's privacy policy applies to payments made through it.
Serves one of our typefaces. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Adobe, which receives standard server-log data such as your IP address. Adobe sets no cookies for this. Adobe's font-services privacy notice.
Videos on this site do not load — and send nothing to Google — until you click play. When you click, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's reduced-tracking player, and Google's privacy policy applies from that point.
Runs only if you accept it, and never on the Get Help pages. See the next section.
Analytics and your consent
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages help people and which don't. It never runs unless you choose to accept it on the banner — no accept, no analytics, no cookies. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.
Do Not Track
This site does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals — it doesn't need to. No tracking runs unless you affirmatively accept it, so the default for every visitor is already no tracking.
Your data, your choices
Unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime with the link in any email. To ask what information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email info@kiacharity.org — we'll answer within 30 days. We keep donation records as tax law requires.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new effective date.
